Fire Wine goes live

The EU project Fire Wine is starting to walk, under the umbrella of Fire-RES Innovative tecnologies & socio-ecological-economic solutions for fire resilient territories in Europe.

img 1434The aim of the project is to create a network of winegrowers, producers and owners of forest estates involved in the application of criteria for the recovery of forest management. Fire Wine wants to consolidate a space where producers can share experiences and disseminate tools and proposals that encourage and promote the development of innovative ideas for the recovery of the bioeconomy as a window of opportunity for forest management and the prevention of wildfires. At the same time, it also wants to plant a seed to improve the resilience of forests that suffer fires and reduce the possibility that wildfires end up deriving into megafires or sixth generation wildfires.

To develop the project, the promoters have organized interviews and meetings, for months with winegorwers and owners of forest estates and wineries of different wine regions in Catalonia and Galicia, in Spain, but also in France and Italy. The wine sector shows a clear concern for the progressive loss of value of products from the forest and they call for forceful actions for the recovery of the bioeconomy as an engine of the future in favor of the environment.
